Cool Stuff We Bought This Week 12/29/18 – 1/4/19

Hey all! The first Friday of the New Year is here, and that means it’s time to go over the Cool Stuff We Bought This Week! Even with the mail stacking up over the holidays, I was still able to snag some sweet pictures of the good stuff.

As well, starting with this article, I’ll be highlighting a unique card or buylist at the end of each weekly article, whether it be an alter, a very well loved Destroyed card, or something in between. While I tend to share the expensive stuff here, that won’t necessarily be the only qualifier. Without further ado, let’s jump in!

Doesn’t that dude look like he’s having the best time being gross?

We’ll start off with this Yawgmoth’s Will, with a nice gold-penned signature from Ron Spencer. Similar to the more recently printed Past in Flames, this card enables several busted strategies, most notably Storm in Vintage and Commander. It ain’t half bad in the Holiday Cube, either! This one came in at Near Mint, if you don’t mind a bit of gold ink.

Ten bucks says that Joe drools on his keyboard while he’s editing this part.

Next up, we have what once was one of the most sought-after foils in Modern, a Future Sight Tarmogoyf. I love the classic art of this card, which pairs so well with the unique Future Sight border. Though, I must admit, the new version from Ultimate Masters gives this a run for its money. I was impressed with its overall condition as well. Not a scratch on it, no fogging, barely any hint of being touched by human hand.

Can you imagine running in to one of those things in a dark alley? Yikes.

A nice Played Time Walk. If you’re familiar with this series, you’d know I get to talk about this card a lot! I would say it is probably the most received piece of the Power Nine we get in buylist lately, possibly neck-and-neck with Mox Ruby. An Old School and Vintage staple in any blue deck looking to abuse an extra turn.

Beautiful.

Ah, now we’re talking. A sweet playset of Unlimited Volcanic Islands. I love the bold colors that the Unlimited Version offers as opposed to Revised, but maybe not so much the premium it demands, being well over double the cost at Near Mint. Unlimited Duals don’t last long in our inventory, so if you’re in the market, I recommend placing an order sooner rather than later.

There’s a story here. Help us figure out what it is!

This last one is a bit of unique find. An Italian Legends All Hallow’s Eve, with a short note sharpied on the front. There’s a story here. One of love, and possibly tragedy? If you have any theories or indeed have the true lore behind this very special card, please leave a comment below, or let me know on Twitter @chroberry.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week. Join me next Friday to get another sweet dosage of cool Magical Cards. As always, you can follow me on Twitter @chroberry or Instagram @chroberrymtg if you want to see extra goodies and spoilers for next week’s article.
