Hey all, it’s Friday once again, and that means it’s time to take a look at the Cool Stuff We Bought This Week! Ultimate Masters is upon us, and that means I’ve got some sick stuff to share with you all. Between the insane haul of cards we got in this week, and our box opening, this has got to be one of the coolest weeks I’ve had in buylist so far. Let’s check out some cards!
Here’s what you guys were all waiting for, our rips from the blue Box Topper packs! We ripped a few boxes to get some singles for you guys, and I can’t say that we did all that bad. Please do not look at the bottom of this image for too long, lest you catch the curse of the Lavaclaw Reaches.
Pack opening is by far one of the coolest things I get to do at ABU Games, and I was lucky enough to crack open four of these! Here are some of my pulls, along with a few from my colleagues:
These are just a few pictures I was able to snap before our sorting began, but we have a pretty extensive stock of the whole set up for sale now! That isn’t all I did this week though, as people keep sending us the cool cards you’re accustomed to seeing in this article series. Here’s the really good stuff!
With the Arabian Nights Mountain being an error of sorts in the print run of the set, it’s not super common to see these, compared to a lot of cards. As Arabian Nights was slated to be a standalone product, including a different backing and subtitle, it was decided last minute to retain the original card back so that the cards could be played together with the original ABU sets. This Mountain was a placeholder for another card on the print sheet, but somehow made it to print. There are roughly 30,000 of the mountains in existence from what I can gather from Google, but this is the coolest one I’ve seen.
Speaking of signed cards, this might be one of the most unique Magic cards I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. While it’s definitely in rough shape, this Unlimited Time Walk bears the signature of the Father himself, Richard Garfield. There’s not a lot of these floating around, and I thought this was probably the coolest thing we got in this week.
That is, if you don’t think .06% of the entire Alpha print run is cool. Nothing too insane in terms of set rarity, but just the sheer volume of Alpha cards, all in one buylist. That’s something to behold. To quote a friend, “imagine how many 40-Card Alpha decks you could build with all of that!”
Here are some of the highlights as well:
